Jake was Kathy's late husband. He was a Marine who was killed on the first day of Desert Storm. Jake had four children with Kathy, J.J. as people called Jake Jr., Carl, Ben and Barb, who was "pretty young" when Jake died[1].
Jake was a biker before entering the service and belonged to Hap's Motorcycle Club (name?). When Steve Sharp helped Kathy with her problems with Jeff Barlow, Hap was grateful to Steve. "You did our job. It's our responsibility to protect a brother's family"[2].
When Kathy was about leave to live with her parents up north, she gave Steve Jake's motorcycle: "Inside was a fairly new Harley evolution FLH with the fairing, all the bags and the rear trunk[2]. She also gave Steve Jake's .44 Magnum pistol.
